Shatera Smith is a Human Resources professional with 13 years of experience. She is the Founder and CEO of Exquisite Consulting Group, LLC, a company that offers HR services for the creation of comfortable, yet productive work atmospheres to individuals and small businesses. The company also offers College Preparation consulting to organizations or to students looking to pursue higher education.
She is a highly effective Human Resources professional with 16 years of managerial experience and 13 years of Human Resources Management; demonstrable leadership skills and experience in employee recruitment, development and retention. Proven expertise in implementing policy and procedures, recruiting and hiring practices, innovative retention approaches and managerial support. Highly successful in setting and achieving strategic and organizational goals, as well as, managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment. Excellent organizational and meeting facilitator skills.
She is the founder of P.L.O.T. (Prolific Leaders of Tomorrow), a College/Career readiness program through her company (Exquisite Consulting Group, LLC), designed to mentor students in 10th - 12th grade with life goals. The program focuses on helping students develop a specific career path or plan. It provides several ways students can use to develop a plan, supported by college and career readiness resources and one on one consulting. Students will understand and be able to articulate the match between their personal interests/goals and their preparation plan for college/careers.
As God as her foundation, Shatera has a positive and bright outlook. Her passion for helping others and making a difference in the lives of others positions her to bring changes to the community. She holds seats on several organizations, which include: The Steering Committee for Essex County Young Democrats, Director of Community Relations for I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D., Inc – 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that utilizes travel, mentor-ship and community service as tools to inspire and challenge high school students socially, intellectually and psychologically, treasurer for former Hudson County Freeholder Gerard Balmir, JR, Director of Community Relations for Project Hygiene, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to support underprivileged youth, ages 10-18 by promoting health and wellness while denouncing bullying. She sits on two ministries within her church. She is one of the Lead Coordinators for The City of East Orange Music, Arts, and Cultures Festival, assisting with managing the Entertainment and Logistics.
Shatera is a graduate of Hampton University with a BA in Political Science, Class of 2005. During her matriculation, she was incredibly involved. She was Ms. Freshman, Vice President of the Class (Sophomore and Junior year), and SGA President (Senior year). She was also a member of several organizations: Student Leaders, Student Recruitment team, and Student Union Board. President Harvey created an award on her behalf, The Student Leadership Award, he was amazed by her leadership (she has been the only recipient of the award).
